Duckman is an artisanal project by Maria João Pato and her father, Luís Pato, to produce terroir wines in Bairrada, Portugal. With a bold concept, Duckman has a positioning that aims to raise questions about the customs and trends associated with the world of wine. Duckman wines express the true character of Bairrada varieties and their exceptional maritime influence.

The original João Pato lived from 1920 to 1984 and was reborn in 2018 in the spirit of Duckman. It is not easy to define the Duckman spirit. It is a mix between the heritage of his ancestors, and an inter-generational spirit of looking at the world, and wine in particular. Furthermore, it has defined itself as an ART-isanal Wine Project that aims to raise questions about customs and trends associated with the world and wine.

Duckman wants to support artists from the region, in their most diverse areas, from photography to music, writing and everything that can be considered art, and to have its wines as a vehicle for bringing local art to the farthest corners of the world. Duckman also doesn't forget its people, neighbours and friends, who help them to have a more meaningful life.

Duckman is all of us who embrace this spirit of building a better world together!

The wines are a result of the exclusive use of grapes produced by themselves, small editions of native grape varieties from the Bairrada region, Baga, Bical, Cercial, and Maria Gomes, from vineyards over 40 years old, which reveal unexpected sensations. Maria and Luís work from two main vineyards, “Amoreira da Gândara”, composed mainly of sandy soils, and "Óis do Bairro", composed of clay-limestone soils. They minimise the use of sulphur, wines are not always filtered, and they do not use any product of animal origin during the whole manufacturing process.
