Joaquim Arnaud is a name that has existed since 1883 and has been passed down from generation to generation. He is a descendant of an Alentejo family documented in Pavia since 1615. The Family has always been dedicated to cork, olive groves, vineyards, cereals and livestock. In 2010, to boost these resources, Joaquim Arnaud decides to create his personalized brand, with his own name. The vision of the business is based on selected products that combine artisanal techniques with sophistication. Its family properties are located in Mora and Arraiolos villages, district of Évora.

In their properties, Joaquim Arnaud planted vines in 2001. The variety grapes are Aragonês, Trincadeira, Syrah, and Alicante Bouschet for reds, Arinto and Chardonnay for the whites. The vineyard totals seven hectares plus five hectares of centennial vineyard located in Pavia.

The Arundel wines, coming from a vineyard with granitic soils, are a tribute to their ancestor William Arnao, descendent of the Counts of Arundel, who arrives from England with Princess Philippa of Lancaster. William stayed on in Portugal in her service, dying at the battle of Alfarrobeira fighting besides D. Pedro. Since 1690 the Arnaud family has been living in Pavia where they planted the vineyards that produced the wine Arundel.

With their sparkling wine, with Monção and Melgaço grapes (vinho verde region), the Arnauds wants to honor the event of 1386, at the Ponte do Mouro, where the King D. João I and the Duke of Lencastre signed and toasted the wedding treaty, with his daughter D. Filipa.
