Just like life, also wine is the visible result of an infinity of events. A living work, never finished, always evolving.
So are these wines born at Quinta da Azenha in Colares, in the vineyards of the Osório de Vasconcelos Jardim Gonçalves family.
This is a family project, the result of the desire to give continuity to the memory of generations of wine producers with roots in Madeira and in the Douro region. It now extends to the millenary region of Colares, one of the oldest in Portugal, whose origin dates back to 1255, when D. Afonso III planted the first vines there from France.
Grown in the seclusion of the Sintra mountains, the Pinot Noir and Merlot varieties find a microclimate protected from the Atlantic winds, with dewy mornings and summers tempered by fog. Planted in "hard soil", they are harvested separately and the grapes are carefully vinified by the classic tanning process. This is followed by ageing in small oak barrels in the mythical “Adega Cooperativa de Colares”.
The results are dry and delicate wines, with saline notes. Full of complexity and freshness, with great potential for bottle ageing.
An elegant invitation to celebrate, enjoy or simply contemplate in an infinity of occasions.
