Located in Sobral de Monte Agraço, about 40 kilometers north of the capital in the Lisbon Wine Region, Quinta do Cerrado da Porta is a small family company. Perhaps this is what gives them the freedom to produce different wines using all the potential of the soil and climate of this privileged region for its clay-limestone terrains, slopes between 200 and 300 meters of altitude, cold nights, morning fogs, and permanent action of Atlantic winds. White grapes come from strains planted in the coolest and windiest areas, wines with a remarkable aroma and freshness. Red grape varieties, on the contrary, are located in the lower and sunny areas, capable of creating the water stress essential for a good ripening in the Atlantic climate, producing aromatic wines, with very balanced acidity, body, and structure.

Quinta do Cerrado da Porta belongs to the current owners since 1997. It was a 3 hectares property with a rural house from the 17th century in very poor condition. The recovery and expansion work took about 4 years. In 1999 the first phase was finished and the owners, both doctors left Lisbon with their two teenage sons.

In the beginning, only one hectare was a vineyard. Since 2011 the owners expand the land and nowadays Monte do Cerrado da Porta has 17 hectares of which 14 are vineyards. The grape varieties are Chardonnay, Arinto e Moscatel Graúdo (white wine) and Pinot Noir, Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Merlot e Castelão (red wines). These were the most appropriate varieties to face strong Atlantic winds and irregular soil. These natural conditions combined with good management of varieties allow producing high-quality wines.
