Isto é Mel is a brand of honey and other products from the hive in a organic production from Reguengos de Monsaraz, in the heart of the Alentejo.
Rosemary honey results from a production that respects the bee's way of life and biology without interfering in the natural functioning of the hive.
The beekeeper must ensure that each hive develops in a healthy way so that it is prepared and strong to start collecting nectar when flowering occurs. Despite the fact that honey production happens only in the spring (in the case of Alentejo, there are no other blooms) during the year the beekeeper has to treat the hive and feed it when its reserves are no longer sufficient (whenever possible without recourse to artificial feeding).
The cresta (honey extraction) is carried out in late spring, respecting the time of each hive and ensuring that its sustainability is ensured.

The Neves Ferreira siblings have a strong connection to the Douro, in particular to their estate, Quinta do Espinho, which has belonged to the family for six generations. The estate is located in Santa Marta de Penaguião over the Bom Viver (‘Good Living’) place.
There they spent some of their best childhood moments, which they recall with joy.
Later on they took over the management and are fully dedicated to it. Several vineyard parcels have been recovered as well as part of the old winemaking facilities and the main house. This has been done always keeping in mind the original materials and aesthetics of the buildings, some of which date back to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
One of their main objectives is to produce high quality wines, which they wish to share with the world, spreading what is produced in one of the most iconic wine regions of the world.
Quinta do Espinho is located in Santa Marta de Penaguião, in the sub-region of the ‘Baixo Corgo’, birthplace of the Demarcated Region of the Douro.
Dating back from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, its winemaking facilities are typical of the Douro’s “Quintas”, originally designed for the production of Port wine. It has a warehouse of oak vats and an impressive house with traditional granite presses, besides other infrastructure related to viticulture and buildings for housing.
The vines are planted in parcels with different grape varieties and different ages, varying from 5 to more than 60 years old. The main red wine grape varieties are Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Barroca. The main white wine grapes are Viozinho, Gouveio and Malvasia fina. In addition to the blend of grape varieties in the old vineyards, which contribute to the complexity of the wines, the beautiful high trellised grapevines (the ‘ramadas’) adorn the pathways and create pleasant shady areas from where to contemplate the landscape protected from the hot summer sun.
The beautiful iron gate, main entrance of the Quinta do Espinho, was one of those chosen by the painter Guichard for the collection "Gates of the Douro" by the local Tourism Office.
Located on a large majestic Douro Valley, this estate enjoys a magnificent view ranging from the Marão to Cambres and Lamego, through the Rodo valley, the Douro River curves of Régua and the Serra das Meadas.
Quinta do Espinho is well known in the region for its beauty, which comfortably exceeds what is already customary in that area. It has been a flagship property of this family, as an Alto Douro Wine Region estate, for six generations.
