Quinta do Fojo, located in the Pinhão Valley in the heart of the Douro, is a project deeply rooted in the concept of origin and authenticity. More than a brand, it represents a clear commitment to precision viticulture, where everything begins and ends in the vineyard.
Registered as a grower-producer, the estate makes wines exclusively from its own grapes, working with a unique vineyard heritage that includes an old vineyard dating back to the late 19th century and another around 30 years old. This absolute focus on origin allows for wines that truly express the character of the place.
The philosophy is simple yet demanding: respect the vineyard and its fruit, avoiding winemaking practices that might mask its identity. The aim is not to impose a style, but to reveal the terroir — the combination of soil, exposure, altitude and vine age — along with the unique expression of each vintage.
Production is intentionally limited and focused. Each vintage results in just two wines, sourced from the estate’s two vineyards. In most years, these are released as Vinha do Fojo and Quinta do Fojo; in truly exceptional vintages, the old vineyard wine is elevated to Fojo, reflecting its outstanding character.
In a world where many producers expand their portfolios, Quinta do Fojo follows the opposite path: fewer wines, stronger identity. Each bottle is a precise expression of the Douro — wines of depth, elegance and longevity, crafted to evolve and reveal themselves over time.
