Intense ruby colour with ripe red fruit aromas and hints of floral and wood notes. Spicy notes show up from the ageing in oak barrels, adding complexity and harmony to the wine. In the mouth it is full-bodied with a good balance between natural acidity and freshness. Mineral character provides freshness to this wine with a lingering and complex finish.

Kelman Wines mission is to produce high quality wines with native grapes harvested on your Quinta, highlighting the typicity and gastronomic aspects of the Dão, integrating traditional winemaking practices with a modern approach for the best expression of their terroir.
The Vineyard
The Kelman family vineyard is located in the heart of the demarcated region of Dão, a plateau surrounded by mountain escapes. It is one of the oldest and most traditional wine making regions of Portugal. The vineyard has 6 hectares of native grape varieties that were planted in year 2000. The vineyard stands at 450 meters above sea level on a mild slope. Sandy soils of granitic origin provide very good drainage. The temperate climate of continental influence brings cool, rainy winters and dry, sunny summers. Daily temperature amplitude favors grapes with a good balance between sugar and acidity, key to producing elegant and fresh wines with great potential for aging.
Philosophy
Wine making is a family business. They hope to share their vision of Dão, a place of elegant wines with plenty of aging capability and that evolve well over time. More than that: a beautiful region with friendly people that sing on the day of harvest, following the tradition of many generations. It is also a region in transformation, with an increased number of producers crafting great wines from grapes harvested in their quintas. They see ourselves in this journey and welcome you to join the ride.
