Soil As you pass the entrance to Quinta da Fata, you'll find Talhão do Alto on your right, at an altitude of around 400 metres, where the grapes for this exclusively Touriga Nacional wine come from. Several selected clones were planted in this sunny vineyard with a gentle slope to the south.

Quinta da Fata is located next to the village of Vilar Seco, municipality of Nelas, the heart of Dão wines, one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in Portugal. The slight southerly slope gives it a sun exposure that benefits the wine and makes it particularly pleasant.

 In addition to the vineyard, the farm has gardens, lawns and wooded areas. Among the many trees, an imposing centenary lime tree stands out. Both the lime tree and the tower with the old water tank are visible by far, and you easily identify the farm from a distance.

Those who visit Nelas will find a monument in honour of the profession of the sommelier. It was built by Eurico Amaral, owner and wine producer of Quinta da Fata and father of the current owners. Eurico Amaral was one of the founders and number one partner of the Wine cooperative of Nelas, the first in the Region. The Quinta da Fata vineyard was re-planted to modernization and production capacities. The most representative varieties of the Dão Region were selected: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro, Jaen and Encruzado. The type of soil and its exposure to the south favour quality production.

Quinta da Fata wine continues to be produced at the Quinta, following the classic processes, with tanning in granite presses and ageing in oak casks. He has won numerous awards in national and international competitions.
