Viognier

Viognier is a grape variety  from  north of Rhône (France), where it produces delicious and great wines, as the famous Condrieu. The wines produced with Viognier grape usually reveal an intense colour, high alcohol content and aromas associated with apricot, peach and flowers. The Viognier from colder climates are more mineral, floral and with lima notes, those coming from warmer climates get a richer flavour. The low acidity of the Viognier does not require oak to reach a wine with balance but a slight ageing in wood can further improve its exotic flavour by adding a touch of vanilla. The late-harvested also bring honey notes. A dry wine produced from the Viognier is excellent when harmonized with cheeses and is excellent with spicy dishes presents in Thai and Chinese cuisine. It is still a perfect choice to accompany a grilled salmon.
