Gewürztraminer

Gewürztraminer is a grape variety originally from the French region of Alsace. This region produces some of the best examples of these dry but fragrant and full-bodied wines with sweetness, spices and opulent aromas. The spicy touches of these wines explain their name, as "Gewürz" means "spice" in German. At harvest time, Gewürztraminer grapes have a pink colour that gives rise to a golden wine, often with a coppery hue. It has aromas of sweet spices, roses, lychees, ginger and notes of grapefruit and white peach. If you like white wines without crispy acidity, this is a good choice. These grapes give rise to rich, round wines. It is an excellent variety to pair with Thai food, Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese aromatic dishes, basically dishes with a mild and medium "attack" of pepper.
