Negra Mole

It is an indigenous Portuguese grape variety and the second oldest. It is still little studied since it is limited to the Algarve region. It is, however, widespread throughout the Algarve region and is its most emblematic variety. It was once the most planted autochthonous grape variety, perfectly adapted to the terroir and very productive and disease resistant. It was part of the famous Clarets and Palhetes Algarvian blends. Negra Mole has a unique characteristic: a single variety can have grapes of all colours. It produces wines with a very open colour, from pink to ruby, fresh, light in flavour but very aromatic, with lots of red fruit and very elegant.
