A Wine Always Has a Story, an Origin, a Motivation...

As the land offers extraordinary diversity, every journey gives us the chance to experience something unique and truly characteristic of each region.
This was the inspiration behind the development of this project.

Story:
The producer’s great-grandfather, José Francisco Prior, was a small farmer from the parish of Souselas who cultivated his vineyards and conducted his wine business in the city of Coimbra. Over the years, the properties were divided among his children and grandchildren, and the family wine trade gradually disappeared.
In the last decade, his father, José Prior Lucas, has been cultivating the plots that once belonged to his grandfather, producing wine to share at the family table with friends and loved ones. Continuing this family tradition, Rui Lucas decided to broaden that sharing.

Origin:
To make wine by bringing together the vineyards of his great-grandfather, who in his day sold all his production to the lively taverns of Coimbra’s university quarter.

Motivation:
To maintain small-scale production — not merely to produce a limited number of bottles, but because it is a genuine pleasure to watch each vineyard grow, to tend every vine and follow the grapes’ development, imagining the wine that will emerge from each bottle. It is a wonderful process!
