In the late of 19th century Great-grandfather of the producer, José Francisco Prior, was a small farmer from the parish of Souselas, who cultivated the vineyard and did all his business in the city of Coimbra. Over the years, the properties were being divided by children and grandchildren, and the wine business was lost. In the last decade his father, José Prior Lucas, was cultivating the parcels that belonged to his grandfather, producing wine that shared the table with his family and his friends. Continuing the family tradition, Rui Lucas has decided to extend the share. Currently IN.Vino PRIORLUCAS explores 4 hectares and pretend to extend this area in more than 5 hectares by selecting the best varieties according to the land and the authorized varieties by the Bairrada region. The most used grape varieties are: Baga, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional (red wine), Arinto, Bical e Maria Gomes (white wine) respecting Bairrada region. They have also introduced Merlot and Syrah varieties to balance and give modernity to the produced wine.
