The tale that inspired the wines
Once upon a time, in the first days of Lusitania, the Roman colony which later became Portugal, a young maiden fell in passionate love for an official of the Roman Empire. However, her family rejected the romance. They decided to hide her beyond the borders of Lusitania, in the right bank of the Douro River, the remote area now known as Douro Superior. There, she would live in the vineyards, wandering day and night, immersed in tears for her beloved one.

Her tears, full of passion and desire, impregnated the soil of the vineyards, thus, creating a unique terroir for producing wines that favor the relationship amongst people and foster love.

From there comes AMAVIO, which in ancient Portuguese means "love and seduction elixir", as well as the APAIXONADO. They are all balanced wines, easy to drink and capable of provoking powerful emotions, in honor to those who are in love and to everyone who seeks understanding, misses someone or is burning with passion.

The vineyards
They have approximately 17 hectares in two vineyards. Sardoal, next to the Douro River, has elevations above 150 meters and produces more concentrated grapes. Salgueiras, with elevations of up to 550 meters, has fresher grapes, with greater acidity.

The vineyards are between 15 and 30 years old, and are planted in corridors, by grape. This allows harvesting and winemaking to be done separately, according to maturity thus ensuring the best use of each variety. This gamut of grapes and altitudes allows for balanced cuts in every harvest. The end result is surprising wines of remarkable quality.

The principle grape varieties in their vineyards are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela and Sousão. There are also smaller quantities of Tinto Cão, Tinta Barroca, Marufo, Tinta Francisca and Malvasia Fina. Each wine is a combination of different varieties.
This makes each of them unmistakable in its taste.
