This project is born out of the passion for Talha Wine in Amareleja, for its people, customs and traditions. It unites several generations, of various origins, origins and histories, around the reverence that we all share for this patrimonial heritage, with pride and respect for the land and for what it offers.

The Adega Marel team is young, with the clear objective of recovering and valuing the tradition of Talha wine, old vines and traditional grape varieties, combining the ancient practices of vine culture with the implementation of new vines and grape varieties, with a spirit demanding, inquisitive and curious, researching techniques and methodologies, in a process of constant experimentation and learning.

Contrary to the vast majority of the Alentejo territory, the agricultural landscape of the Amareleja region is divided into small parcels, occupied mainly by vineyards and olive groves, sometimes both in the same parcel - maintaining the historical association, inherited from the Roman tradition.

It is in this cultural and landscape mosaic that its vineyards are found, in “courelas” - plots of cultivated land, long and narrow - that were gradually acquired, taking into account the recovery and preservation of the old vineyards and the existing native grape varieties .

The approximately 11 ha of vines are planted in a mixture of soils with very varied characteristics (from sandy loam to sandy loam-clay), very poor and stony. It is in the strictness of the extreme climate of the warmest wine region in the entire national territory, that 11 grape varieties are currently working, between new and old vines in “pé franco” (over 90 years old).
