Cacarita Arinto dos Açores 2018

23,90 €

Cacarita is the popular nickname of the family of Leonardo Ávila da Silva, the founder of the winery “A Buraca.” This is what people called the grandfather of the producer of Cacarita, due to the pointy shape of the top of his straw hat. The nickname was derived from the Portuguese word for lumps on one’s head, “Cacaruto.”
Wine with yellow citrus color, mineral aroma with citrus notes of grapefruit. It reveals a freshness and salinity with some complexity, characteristic of the soils and the proximity to the sea.

"A Buraca" is an establishment opened by Leonardo Ávila Silva, opened on November 11, 2007, and has been part of the Wine Route since 2013.

The name "A Buraca" had to do with the history of building a cellar where the cellar was to be built. As to make a basement it is necessary to excavate the soil and remove the rubble, he contacted a contractor to do it, but part of it had to be removed by hand and mainly at night. To get to this place he told his wife the reason for leaving the house and she jokingly commented "you come from the hole" or "you are going to the hole" and from there until the name of buraca came up quickly.

On one of his trips to Lisbon, he found out that there was a land with that name and then decided to assign his winery "A Buraca" to his winery.
