Quinta do Gago is a property with 23 hectares of vineyard, located in the village of Sonim, in the municipality of Valpaços, district of Vila Real, Portugal. The vineyards are between 400 meters and 700 meters of altitude, which translates into wines of greater freshness.
Once we arrive at Quinta do Gago, we can find the couple Fernando Faria and Deolinda Sousa, who are the owners.
Fernando Faria in love with the wines, considers his father, José Faria, the great responsible and mentor of his work, and he inherited not only his knowledge, but also the land where the Quinta do Gago is currently located.
When we asked Fernando about the location of Quinta do Gago, he says: "For my brothers, I did not ask for anything else, at the time that everyone told me that I would be harmed, but I felt that a special bond with that place knew that I had to demonstrate to the world the genuine wines of this land, so I chose this land as an inheritance and today I do not regret it."
The production of wine certified in bottle began in 2006, where was launched the brand "Xalana " because it is the nickname of the School of Fernando, an association to the famous Portuguese football player. The second brand was Casal Faria, where it has the family name and finally Quinta do Gago, which has the name of the land that Fernando inherited from his father.
