Quinta da Terrincha has a long history dating back to the 14th century, which was when it belonged to King Afonso V. Ownership of Terrincha in the fifteenth century passed from the Portuguese royal family to a noble family of that time.
In the twentieth century, after having belonged to the Countess of Pinhel, the estate was acquired in the 1990s by the current owners, the Seixas Pinto family, which began the project to renovate and recuperate all the buildings.
Quinta da Terrincha is located in Vale da Vilariça in the Douro Demarcated Region, one of Europe’s most fertile agricultural valleys. The estate extends over 300 hectares, near the meeting of the River Sabor and River Douro, and it stands out as one of the most important tourism and agricultural units of North Portugal
There are now 50 hectares of vineyards in full production and more recently an additional 13 hectares planted in 2016, all at an elevation between 190 and 430 metres.
The wines are produced from the grape varieties Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Sousão, Gouveio, Viosinho, Rabigato and Arinto, among others.
