Quinta da Caldeirinha (QC) is an organic wine and olive oil producer, situated on the east uplands of Portugal - Beira Interior Region, Almofala old village, in the Natural Park of Douro International.
QC produces elegant and distinct wines under Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), monovarietals and blends, made from native and international grape varieties. The vineyards (located 700 meters high) are grown on granitic and schistose soils, face a harsh continental climate with hot, dry summers and extremely cold winters. This terroir creates extremely complex red wines combining wild fruits and spices while the exuberant whites include strikingly fresh notes.
Continuing a family tradition, 2001 marked the beginning of the reconstruction and modernization of the farm through the growth of vineyards and olive groves according to the standards and challenges of Organic Farming.
Being a pioneering and innovative organic farming project at the local level, QC’s goal is to create authentic and unique wines and olive oils that are able to express all the richness of their terroir and reflect a genuine respect for nature and biodiversity.
The vineyards and olive groves, which are certified by SATIVA, are grown with the utmost rigour, without any artificial chemical products, on the plants or soil that supports them. The farm’s
vineyards are distributed across different plots: old vines, which are over 80 years old, and new vines that grow together with the olive grove and a forest with cork oaks, pine trees and almond trees.
In the certified winery, the winemaking process is based on grape varieties with a recognized quality, such as the ‘centenarian’ old vine whose vinification combines several grape varieties and reflects the unique character of QC wines. The olive oils are produced with the farm’s best, 100% organic olives, in two different versions with very low acidity levels.

Superior category olive oil obtained from olives by mechanical processes. It comes from olive groves planted in the International Douro Natural Park, on the steep slopes where the river Águeda meets the river Douro, at an average altitude of 600m. Vinified with Tinta Roriz organic grapes using the fermentation off skins method with fermentation temperature control.It has a fresh and fruity flavour whith an intense red fruit aroma, particulary strawberries and raspberries. Elegant with a long-lasting aftertaste.
Vinified with organic grapes Síria and Malvasia Fina, using the fermentation off skins method with fermentation temperature control. Wine with tropical fruit aroma, balanced acidity, and persistent aftertaste.
Vinified with organic Aragones grapes and a long pelicular maceration that grants it structure and longevity. Aged in French oak. It is a naturally stabilized wine that may have sediments over time.Garnet-coloured wine with sweet fruit, blackberry, raspberry and ripe strawberry flavours, green notes. Well-structured wine and elegant.
Vinified with organic Touriga Nacional grapes and a long pelicular maceration that grants it structure and longevity. Aged in French oak. It is a naturally stabilized wine that may have sediments over time.Garnet-coloured wine with a delicate violet and red fruit notes, such as blackberry and blueberry, for a harmonious blend.
Vinified with organic Syrah grapes and a long pelicular maceration that grants it structure and longevity. Aged in French oak.
