Located in the Lisbon wine region, about 40 kilometres north of the capital Quinta do Cerrado da Porta belongs to the current owners since 1997. Since 2011 the owners expand the land to produce wines with quality from their own vineyards.
Quinta do Cerrado da Porta belongs to the current owners since 1997. It was a 3 hectares property with a rural house from 17th century in very poor condition. The recovery and expansion work took about 4 years. In 1999 the first phase was finished and the owners, both doctors left Lisbon with their two teenage sons.
In the beginning only one hectare was vineyard. Since 2011 the owners expand the land and nowadays Monte do Cerrado da Porta has 17 hectares in which 14 are vineyards. The varieties grape are Chardonnay, Arinto e Moscatel Graúdo (white wine) and Pinot Noir, Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Merlot e Castelão (red wines). These were the most appropriate varieties to face strong Atlantic winds and the irregular soil. These natural conditions combined with a good management of varieties allows to produce high quality wines.
Rose wine produced from 3 red grapes, Touriga Nacional, Merlot and Syrah. This wine distinguishes itself by the intense red fruits aroma, especially raspberry and spices , particulary clove. It's fresh, full-bodied and structured.
Red wine produced from Pinot Noir and Touriga Nacional grapes, aged for 12 months in french oak barrels. Intense wine with high complexity, full-bodied and soft, with garnet color, with violet reflections and floral aroma.
White wine produced from Chardonnay grapes, qrown in a 250 meter high slope with a strong seawind influence. The grapes were manually cropped during a fresh day in the 21st of August of 2015.Wine with the typical yellow color of the grape, intense aroma of tropical fruits.
Red wine produced with Merlot grapes from a south facing hillside vineyeard. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. With an intense aroma, on the palate it is soft and classy.Production: 1330 bottles
